The OFRW Biennial Convention is scheduled for August 12-13, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at which time we will be electing new OFRW officers for the two-year term beginning January 1, 2012.
The OVER Nominating Committee desires your valuable inputs into these important decisions. Please contact your members for recommendations and suggestions of capable, qualified candidates who want to serve in the following positions:
a. President e. Fourth Vice President
b. First Vice President f. Recording Secretary
c. Second Vice President g. Treasurer
d. Third Vice President
Each officer must be a unit club member in good standing whose OFRW and NFRW dues are currently paid in full. These positions are elected for a term of two years and no officer shall succeed herself more than once. For details concerning duties as an officer and the specific position, please refer to the OFRW By-Laws.
The Nominating Committee will extend to our current officers, as a courtesy, the opportunity to be considered in their current position for a second term, or for another Officer position. Every effort will be made by the Nominating Committee to propose and Officer from each of our five Congressional Districts. While the Nominating Committee is charged with presenting a proposed slate of Officers to the Convention, nominations can be made form the floor of the Convention with the consent of the nominee.
Nominations and elections of a Congressional District Director and Assistant Director from each Congressional District shall be made by the delegates from their respective district at the Convention. The Parliamentarian will be appointed by the incoming President.
While a formal nomination is not necessary, for each nomination you do submit (after obtaining your candidate's permission to submit their name for a particular office), you and your nominee should complete and sign an Officer Candidate Form (see below). The Candidate and Nominee can sign either the same form or separate forms.
All names submitted to the Committee will be given equal consideration according to OFRW By-Laws which allow only one name per position to be submitted by the Nominating Committee.
The following candidate documentation should be sent on to Sara Jo Odom, Nominating Committee Chairman, by mail or e-mail:
1. Candidate's Letter of Intent (see attached Resume Guidelines)
2. Candidate's Resume (see Resume Guidelines)
3. Two Letters of Recommendations
4. Officer Candidate Form (completed, signed, & dated) (see attached)
The Chairman will distribute all submissions to the members of the Committee.
As time is of the essence, please treat this matter with the utmost importance and speed. Thank you for your contribution in this procedure. Should you have any questions, please contact the Chairman.
All applications must be turned in by
JUNE 17, 2011.
